In an effort of solidarity with Vienna, various associations in the west of Austria joined forces in Bregenz, the capital of the state, to demonstrate for peace and neutrality on October 18th, 2025.
The EU’s current course of war is leading to enormous military spending at the expense of peace, social security and prosperity. In addition, the Austrian government is pushing for membership of the NATO military alliance, against the constitutional neutrality and the Austrian people’s desire for peace.
With this initiative, the association Stopp WK3 (Stop WW3) called on the government to protect Austria’s neutrality and take effective measures to end its involvement in the 800 billion Euro EU armament programme and the facilitation of war-aiding transports through and above Austria.
According to Stopp WK3’s position online, “it is high time that the EU returned to its original promise and that Austria used its neutrality and sovereignty to maintain peace and security in Europe. The current policy is not in the interests of the people. It is urgently necessary that people put a decisive stop to this development.”
The association wishes no Austrian participation in the EU militarisation efforts and sanctions that violate international law. It also advocates against censorship, surveillance and the curtailment of fundamental rights and freedom. The World Council for Health joined this effort for peace, as it is in accord with the World Council for Health better way principles.
Around 500 people from the region joined in Bregenz, including from Germany and Switzerland, while about 3,000 assembled in Vienna.
